The Caregiver Journey: Knowing Your Rights as a Caregiver
Caring for an aging, chronically ill, or disabled loved one can be an all-consuming experience, often bringing unimaginable challenges and rewards. With the day-to-day intensity of the job being so consistently high, it’s easy for family caregivers to lose sight of their own personal and legal rights in the process.
In this Caregiver Journey Webinar, Matt Perrin from Carallel is joined by John A. Schall M.P.P., CEO of Caregiver Action Network to discuss the importance of knowing our legal and personal rights as family caregivers.
John brings a combination of 25 years of bipartisan experience in the Executive and Legislative branches of government and his personal caregiving experience to his work as Chief Executive Officer of Caregiver Action Network (formerly National Family Caregivers Association). John previously served as Chief of Staff of the U.S. Department of Labor from 1991 to 1993 and was a White House Domestic Policy Adviser to President George H.W. Bush and Deputy of the White House Domestic Policy Council from 1989 to 1991. He served as Legislative Director for then Rep. Connie Mack (R-FL). He also held positions in the White House Office of Management and Budget from 1984 to 1987.
Matt is a family caregiver for his mother who is living with Alzheimer’s Disease. Challenges he encountered while trying to find the right care led him to start Ro & Steve, a senior care review website built for consumers. At Carallel, Matt drives the digital content development and distribution strategy. His focus is on supporting caregivers by providing the practical, relatable, and informative perspective people need — wherever they may be in their journey of caring for a loved one.
